'You can't stop the birds from flying over you but you can stop them from building a nest in your hair.', I said to distinguished guests a few days ago. I find it fascinating that most people plan their VACATIONS with better care than they plan their LIVES! Perhaps that is because ESCAPE is easier than CHANGE! However rich you are, no matter how many cars you have, you must always walk to the bathroom. You can't fall if you don't climb. But there is no joy in living your whole life on the ground. Weakness of desire due to neglect is the choice of motive that impels action. Weak desires bring weak results, just as a small amount of fire makes small amounts of heat. One of the the most important thing in life is not to capitalize from the gains but to profit from the losses. The tendency to use examples of those who have failed over those who have succeeded is one of small minds. Not everybody that knows how to talk actually knows what to say. This paragraph links perfectly modern society to the strong moral standards of its pre - colonial past if you know how to interpret it.
Pride is often misinterpreted. My friend and mentee Ortega Ian Aliro said words I will never forget, 'No matter the famine, a Lion will never eat grass! It's not Pride, but this is how a lion is built, that's its genetic make-up. Similarly, when you discover the God-nature in you, the I am that resides in you, not outside, but in you, then no matter the circumstance, you will never stoop or go low. It's not pride, but that's your genetic make-up, the consciousness of God in you!' Watch out for Ian because he is going to colonize success in all dimensions. This I am sure about.
According to Napoleon Hill, 'Faith is the external elixir which gives life, power and action to the impulse of thought'. Indecision is a seedling of fear which always crystallizes into doubt. You can’t simply fight someone that disagrees with you because when you do, the discussion is over. According to Wieland (1980), 40% of the whole world's research and development goes into preparation for war, or about a million dollars a minute. One thing every single human on earth has in common is we don’t want to be divided, we want to be validated and understood. When we hate our enemies, we are giving them power over us. Just like Rachel Bridge said, 'The commercial world isn't a forgiving place in which to make mistakes. There is nothing cool in losing large amounts of money just because you didn't know what you were doing. And the advantage of being your own secret squirrel can not be overestimated.' Remember, 'When its dark enough, you can see the stars.' -Ralph Waldo Emerson. Like my mentor says, 'You can't say you didn't kill the chicken but only cut off its head.' Basically, being a leader is not about ability. Its about responsibility and you are not really a leader until you have lost.
One of the biggest achievements you can make as a human being is changing what annoys, inspires, motivates and convinces you. From the story, 'Living in Designer Poverty' which mainly teaches business skills and financial education, we look at Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg who is so rich that the cost of living in his $5.95million home is essentially $0. That's basically free. Zuckerberg re-mortgaged his home. Yes, you read that right. Why would he take out a mortgage on his home when he is rich enough to buy it a hundred times over? Keep reading and you might learn a thing or two about being smart with your money. Zuckerberg re - mortgaged his home with a 30 year adjustable - rate loan starting at 1.05%. Because 1.05% is below the current rate of inflation, which is somewhere between 2% and 3%, Zuckerberg is essentially borrowing for free. Zuckerberg is taking the mortgage because the interest rate is so low that he can invest the cash he would have spent on the house, risk free and get a higher rate of return, the principle of the loan. But that's not a cost; he is getting equity in his home. He's basically putting money into a piggy bank. If he ever sold his house, he'd get all that money back, and the amount he spent to live there would be close to zero. If anything, he would turn a profit. The wealthy don't stay wealthy by spending all of their money. 'If you've got it, flaunt it' is a great slogan, but poor advice. The words of Maya Angelou, ‘When you learn, teach; when you get, give’
