“Never buy a shirt from a naked man! I shared this principle in relation to mentor-ship a while back, reflecting on past experiences and lessons learned. You can't and shouldn’t take mentor-ship from someone who can not exhaust your every question in that particular field of mentor-ship. We need to only buy shirts from men who wear them themselves, embodying the principles they preach and demonstrating their lived experiences. It emphasizes the importance of genuine expertise in the mentorship relationship, ensuring that you learn from someone whose insights and guidance are vividly backed by personal experience.”
On a previous interview, I shared how the devil can only read your plans, hear you recite your intentions, or even predict your next move from your actions. However, GOD didn’t give him the pleasure enough to read your mind. You have that over him, which is a powerful insight. It means that your true aspirations can remain sacred, known only to you and the Divine, which can guide you in the right direction without external interference or negativity.
Finance and business are a complex mix of components that embrace a large spectrum of enterprises. During one of my sessions months ago, I encountered great words from Richard Rethink, which I consider his best piece of all time. He said – I quote, ‘A music teacher told Beethoven, ‘You’re hopeless as a composer.’ A newspaper fired Walt Disney telling him he ‘lacked imagination.’ Thomas Edison was told by a teacher that he was too stupid to learn. This shows that those who do not understand your destiny have no right to speak into your life! Never allow yourself to be defined by the smallness of someone else’s mind! Be careful about erecting walls in your mind because they can limit your growth. When you attempt to manage your life on your own, there are too many things that will be OVERLOOKED and UNDER-HEARD!’ He further said, ‘Two right people at the wrong time is the wrong relationship! Time will... Educate, Expose, and Eliminate. Allow time to do its perfect work, for it might be your turn but it might not be your time! Don’t get caught up in the ropes of expectation and distraction. Seek God first! The greatest proof that you are over your past is no longer dealing with it, and in that clarity, you can move forward with purpose. #Wake, Work, Walk, Wait’
Last month, one of my most important interactions was at the XtraOrdinary Conversations hosted by XtraOrdinary Magazine, a business line founded by Nixion Jet Tusiime. Nixion, the African driver, is a friend, brother, and business partner whom I respect immensely for his outstanding business acumen, marketing genius, and ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds. In the video discussing our thoughts are Harimwomugasho Francis (a prominent city lawyer), Sheila Mwebaze (a media practitioner), and Ann Duncan (a Kenyan financial expert), each bringing their unique perspective. These living room conversations happen once a month, linking the entire planet in meaningful discussions. Founded by Joan Blades and Audrey Addison Williams from the U.S.A as Living Room Conversations are the exact setting that started off U.S President Barack Obama on his journey to leadership. In this session, we discussed medium-scale African Growth and whether it's significantly affecting the poor. The rate of return on foreign investment is surprisingly higher in Africa than in any other developing region, turning the continent into a hotspot for investing enterprises. Global executives and investors must pay heed as Africa’s economic pulse has quickened, infusing the continent with a new commercial vibrancy. Real GDP is now approximated at around 6.9 percent, more than thrice the pace in the 1980s and ’90s. Telecommunications, banking, and retailing are flourishing at unprecedented rates. Construction is booming, and private-investment inflows are surging. To be sure, many of Africa’s 50-plus individual economies face serious challenges, including poverty, disease, and high infant mortality that require urgent attention. Follow this link to see the video clip of this great discussion in which I was honored to participate and contribute my thoughts.
This month's theme is BOREDOM, and I invite you to explore its implications on productivity and creativity. A few months ago, I was speaking to a US influential billionaire, and during our conversation, he asked me what scares me? It was the most difficult question this year, mainly because it wasn’t ordinary, and it really made me think deeply. After a few seconds of reflecting critically on the question, I answered, ‘I am scared of bored people!’ He asked me why, and I answered, ‘Because you can never be bored if you have BIG DREAMS! Your aspirations and visions for the future can keep your mind engaged and your spirit uplifted.’ We chat at least twice a week since then, discussing various topics that either inspire or challenge us. This month, if you ever find yourself bored, I encourage you to increase your mental activity by increasing the size of your dreams. Even, in the middle of the desert, you would never be BORED, for your vision can paint your surroundings vividly.
Lastly, allow me to express my deepest gratitude to the prestigious bigeye for recognizing me among the 50 Ugandan Entrepreneurs Who Inspire others. Bigeye continues to do wonders in East Africa's media industry and is destined to be the best entertainment website on the continent by using an innovative template replicated across the over 50 countries in Africa. It could very well take the lead as a platform influencing culture and inspiring many.
I wish you all an extraordinarily superior month filled with great doses of tranquil thinking, spiritual impetus, and outstanding drive in all you do. And remember, having emotions and using emotions are two different things. Harness your emotions positively, and let them guide you toward your goals with passion and purpose.”
